Tickets for the annual Prime Ministers 13 game between Australia and Papua New Guinea go on sale from 9am this Monday, 6th October 2014.
In what is planned to be a festival of rugby league in Kokopo on October 12, PNGRFL officials expect tickets will be snapped up quickly and encourage fans to avoid a last-minute rush. Tickets will be sold at Agmark Hardware, Talina, Kokopo. A limited supply of Kumuls caps, tees, polos and jerseys will also be on sale at Agmark. A small number of tickets will be sold on game day, however PNGRFL CEO Brad Tassell encouraged fans to get their tickets early to avoid disappointment. “It’s a fantastic day of Rugby League which will kick off from 10am with the PNG Junior U16 Kumuls taking on NSW Academy, followed by the Women’s trial match with players chosen from the recent National Championships for selection in the Women’s Raggiana National team. “That is then followed by a massive game between the Confederate All Stars and Digicel Cup All-stars then of course the big one at 3pm the PM13 Kumuls vs Kangaroos. The day is jam packed with some of the best young talent in PNG on display. “It is the biggest event on the PNG Rugby League calendar and I know hotels and flights are already filling up fast. Ticket prices have been kept at the same price as last year and with limited capacity at the grounds we expect tickets will sell quickly and be in great demand.” Prices range from K50 for the outer to K100 to K200 main premium grandstand. Tassell added the match is a historic one between the two nations. “It’s the 10th year anniversary of the match in PNG and that’s why we are celebrating it with a festival of footy. Both PNG and the Aussies have named young, strong sides so there should be plenty of fast paced, tough action. Don’t miss out and get your tickets early.” The Australian team is scheduled to arrive on Friday, October 10, flying direct to Kokopo from Cairns. The entire team captained by Gold Coast Titans and New South Wales forward Greg Bird will be special guests at a corporate dinner at the Kokopo Beach Bungalow that night. The PNG team already in camp in Kokopo will also be special guests at the corporate dinner. On Saturday, both teams will be involved in coaching clinics with the two PNG women’s teams who will be engaged in a match against each other as one of the curtain-raiser games the next day and a kids coaching clinic at Kokopo Primary School. A Digicel Cup All Stars versus National Confederates All Stars game is also an exciting inclusion into the game day program. Air Niugini tours have organized special packages for the games and enquiries can be directed to their office on +675 3272557 or email to tours@airniugini.com.pg
