But the biggest upset of the weekend was Six Mile Tigers bundling defending champion Morata Swans out of the race with a narrow but decisive 4-0 victory in the pool match on Saturday.
Yesterday the Ducks’ strong comeback was ignited by Buka in the second stanza when they were trailing Eels 8-0 at interval.
Eels outclassed them in the opening half with solid performance from the forwards and backline. But they just could not put them away, allowing the Ducks to get home.
Ducks CEO Billy Aki was angered by his teams’ paltry performance in the first half told them at halftime to pull themselves together and they did.
The Ducks would have to lift their game for the Christmas Day clash against Freeway Bumpers, who are have proved to be a more formidable outfit.
