Despite the positive 26-18 trial match win over the Northern Pride Barlow Park, Cairns on Sunday, coach Michael Marum said they still have a long way to go.
When contacted in Cairns yesterday, Marum downplayed the win and described it as a good performance even though they still have a lot to improve on in their attack and defence.
“We will keep working on our simple basic stuff at training again step by step over the next few days before out second trial game,” Marum said.
The Hunters sponsored by SP Brewery will play their second trial match against Central Queensland Capras at Browne Park in Rockhampton this Saturday.
When queried on their key playmaking roles, Marum said their halves are slowly coming together in understanding each other’s game.
“However we are positive that they will produce as the players know they are fighting for positions as well,” he added.
He further said there were a few loose balls going to ground in their green zone and that’s something they will be working on with the players this week.
“We have no major injuries to worry about at this stage,” he added.
