HAILING from Sepoe on the coastlines of East Kerema, Martin Sevara, captain of the Funeral Home-sponsored team, Tigers, is not a new face to off-season rugby league.
Featuring brilliantly for the Tigers in the November 30 Bowl playoff, Martin was the only point scorer, scoring both tries in the win against Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) during the Cooperate Nines competition. He scored the match-winner in the dying minutes of the second half after both teams were locked 4-4. Funeral Homes entered the corporate nines competition but came out of the semis every time. Finally last year they made the bowl playoffs and have defended their title again this year after a strong competition from ISS. With that gone, Martin is all eyes for eyes for a spot in the Isapeas. “I have an offseason game coming up December 26 and after that hopefully a call up to the provincial team.” Martin said.
