The PNGRFL through the SP Hunters Intrust Super Cup team have today presented a cheque for K5,000 to the Tinemau family as a grant towards assisting in medical expenses for former National Chairman of Selectors David Tinemau. David tragically fell ill last year and the family has made the decision to move him to Singapore to get the best possible care said son Linston Tinemau; “It was a tough decision but we wanted to give Dad the best possible medical treatment. I would like to give a huge thanks to Brad, the PNGRFL & the SP Hunters for honouring their commitment made at our fundraising BBQ on the 21st December. The entire SP Hunters team including coach Michael Marum, Brad and staff were there lending their support, which was fantastic and really appreciated by the family. A lot of other pledges made on the day have not come in yet – the PNGRFL is the first one. Dad has been a former Chairman of selectors and a rugby league stalwart for a long time and this donation is timely for his medial expenses in Singapore. The Tinemau family sincerely thank Brad, the PNGRFL and the SP Hunters for their contribution.” PNGRFL & SP Hunters CEO Brad Tassell said the PNGRFL wanted to assist in looking after our own; “David has been a part of the PNGRFL revival over the past 12 months and we were deeply saddened by what happened last year. While we cannot always contribute, on this occasion we felt it was the right thing to do. I have had a lot to do with David over the past 12 months and he is an honourable, good man and it’s a tragedy that he can no longer be involved with the game he loves. We hope that this contribution kick starts other contributions to cover expenses for David’s Treatment. David’s family will keep us updated on his progress and we hope with the specialised care he is receiving he will get back on his feet. I call on other organisations to contact David’s family and also make a contribution.” A special account has been set up (David Tinemau Medical Account) by the Tinemau family to manage contributions and pay for medial expenses. Contributions can be made by contacting Linston Tinemau on 70085141 or email ltinemau@yahoo.com.au. Comments are closed.
