Hagen Eagles clawed

Politics in the Western Highlands provincial capital, Mt Hagen is affecting the franchise with another loss recorded in round 11 of the Digicel Cup in Port Moresby.
The Wamp Nga Mt Hagen Eagles were clawed by the ever improving Prima Gulf Isapea 32-16 at the Lloyd Robson Oval yesterday.
Eagles Captain Jason Tali admitted that politics had affected the team with some of their experienced players not being named in the squad.
“Most of our boys are new and inexperienced however we are trying our very best to be competitive this year,” said the current PNG Kumuls center.
Eagles were the first to register points with a penalty goal by centre Ham Tee.
Isapea replied with a try by through blockbusting prop, Nixon Kolo which five eighth Joshua Thomas converted to lead 6-2.
The Crocodiles executed their game plan well and were rewarded with two unconverted tries within two minutes through skipper Barry Pekaea and Thomas for a 14-2 lead. 
Eagles retaliated at the 21st minute through hard working hooker Danny Aaron which Tee converted to trail 8-14.
Paga Panthers recruit Junior Arova made a 70m dash after intercepting an Eagles over head pass to score under the upright to extend the Isapea lead to 18-10 at the break. The second half was tense when an Isapea player made a dangerous high shot on Eagles second row Francis Pangti. 
Angry Eagles supporters threw sticks, stones, empty bottles and other objects to the Isapea players. Fareho placed Isapea five eighth Thomas on report but the crowds still were not happy.
This did not dampen the Isapea spirit as they went with all guns blazing and scored three minutes into the second half through Karo Kauna Jnr. 
John Horope scored at the 50th minute before shinning fullback George Kose scored to seal victory 10 minutes before full time.
Eagles scored a consolation through Richard Andreas as time ran out on them.
The other upset of the round was in Kundiawa when home side TNA Lions beat Lae Snax Tigers 18-10. Agmark Rabaul Gurias escaped with a 27-22 win over Stop N Shop Vipers in Kokopo while Kemele Construction Hela Wigmen went down 36-12 to Bintangor Lahanis in Goroka and PRK Mendi Muruks were beaten at home by Enga Mioks 28-22 at the Joe Keviame Oval.
